Benefits of Gratitude!

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We all know God desires our praise and thanksgiving for the blessings bestowed. HE deserves the gratitude and HE is worthy. But have we ever thought about all the benefits we receive when we are truly thankful? Here are a few:

Refocus: we often get our eyes and hearts too focused on the worlds distractions or our own selves. Rejoicing in God and His blessings puts our focus back on him. Our issues seem to shrink and joy soon returns.

Relief: Sometimes we try to carry the world on our shoulders and get overwhelmed with anxiety. We cannot do anything in our strength but we can do everything in HIS strength. Our load gets lighter.

Refreshed: We seem to easily forget life is not about us or our need. We get consumed with self and live for the moment. True gratitude takes us back to the fact; life is about HIM and our fellowship with HIM. Gratitude refreshes our friendship with the one who sticks closer than a brother. How refreshing!

Reinforcement: Let’s face it, there isn’t much we can trust today. But when we realize how faithful God is, this reinforces our faith. We get reinforced strength to live on, knowing the faithful One has prepared a better life than this. Life for us and for all who will receive HIS truth. Gratitude for his promises produces stronger faith.

Re-energized: When I’m grateful for all this truth, I get the energy overcome any discouragement and praise on! REJOICE!
