Born with Compassion?

Matthew 9:36-38

Jesus was moved with compassion when he saw the lost sheep of Israel with no shepherd. His heart went out to them. He felt their pains. Someone said that is the best definition of having compassion. Feeling someone else’s hurt in your heart.

Jesus had a heart for his people and displayed that through compassion. We are made in God’s image so compassion should be part of our behavior as well. Were we born with a capacity for feeling compassion?

Consider the little boy who’s in big trouble with his father. He is being chastened by being put in time out. (Has God ever put you in time out?) Watch the compassion displayed by his little sister. Even a baby knows other people need compassion.

Who needs your compassion today?
