December 13th Ready or Not Here I Come....

Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Most of us can remember playing hide n seek when we were kids. The game didn’t require any special toys or possessions, just places we could sneak under or hide behind. The seeker would count to one hundred and then yell “ready or not, here I come” giving notice you better be prepared.

Many of us start conversations this time of year using this question: “are you ready for Christmas?” Most of the time the response is negative. Still have more shopping, baking, or decorating to do....are common responses. Most people are not ready most of the time. It’s coming irregardless of your readiness.

Jesus tells us in today’s verse to be ready. The fact He is coming back for His own people is the tremendous truth of this verse. Oh what hope this gives us. He’s preparing for his return and to be with us eternally in the Heavenly home up yonder. A place where all is peace, joy and love. A place with no tears, crying or pain. Our best life is yet to come, if we are ready.

The question is: are you ready? Is all your homework completed? Have you finished every assignment God has for you to do here? Is all your heart work completed? Have you loved God with your everything? Have you loved all the people you can with the love of God? Have you loved them enough to tell them about Jesus?

If you read read the verses around this one in Luke 12, you will find some tremendous blessing for the servant who is ready and watching when Jesus returns. Some of the other verses warn of the terrible consequences of not being ready.

The fact is, ready or not, He is coming! It may be today! Are you ready?
