December 17th God’s True Colors
Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
For years, poinsettias have been a favorite plant at Christmas. But in order for their brilliant color to be revealed at just the right time, nursery growers make sure the plants spend a certain amount of time in darkness. Then, when the plants grow to maturity, large amounts of light are then introdiced into their environment.
In places where the plants are native, like Mexico and Florida, people who plant them in their yards can tell you that they must be planted in a very particular spot in order thrive and bring forth their brilliant color. Some darkness, then bright sunlight at just the right time, makes the most brilliant colors of poinsettia.
Isnt the same true true in our lives. We all lived in darkness before we met the light of the world. Often those who experienced the deepest darkness bring forth the most brilliant light for the Lord. He is the source of that light and the closer we are to him the more brilliant our color.
The true colors of Gods nature are released from us by the amount of His Truth we put in us. The wonderful colors of love, joy, forgiveness, peace, mercy, compassion and grace comes from those who were called out of darkness into His marvelous Light!
