February 3 Can Jesus Trust You?

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Paul was shocked. The people fo the region of Galatia were under attack by false teachers. He had labored long, preaching the truth about God‘s grace which sent his Son to pay the price for all their sin. (Ours too) The people received the truth and were set free through salvation. They were free from their chains. Set free from bondage.

After Paul left the false teachers came behind him and pointed to the law. You must do this and that to be saved. Mankind always feels like they must do something. Some work or act to help them feel like they earned the free gift of God’s love and forgiveness. So they bought the lie and began thinking they had to keep the old Jewish law which no man could keep. Galatians is a record of Paul setting them straight about grace.

Paul said all those who believed in Jesus atoning death on the cross was payment for sin, were now crucified with him. Their sin debt was nailed to the wood. The law was nailed to the wood. Yet we are still alive - alive unto Jesus. He now lives in and through us. He says in this verse that I work hard in this body (flesh) because I’m saved, not to be saved. I live by the faith of the Son Of God who loved me and gave himself for me. Notice the word “of” is not the word “in”. He said the life I now live, I live because Jesus has faith in me! Jesus trusted Paul with a ministry. The faith “of“ Jesus was his.

Its a a sobering thought that Jesus would put his trust in those He died for and have been saved. Can Jesus trust you and me?
