January 16th Full of Compassion
Psalm 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
Like the father in the parable about the Prodigal Son, God is waiting, looking, His eyes glued to the horizon searching for us. When He sees us, though He is a dignified patriarch, He lifts up His garment and shamelessly gallops toward us, as we come trudging toward Him with our load of guilt and despair. He wraps us in His arms and smothers us with kisses.
This is not new behavior for God. He has looked at people with compassion for centuries.
