January 24th Extreme Faith

Genesis 39:20-23

20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

21 But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

22And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. 23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.

Prison inmates often talk about the mind-numbing effects of being locked up. Time seems to drag and the freedom so longed for, never seems close. It’s easy to fall into despair and discouragement. Some lose the will to live without some hope, some goal, some motivation. The same is true for us as well. That also could’ve been Joseph. But because of his “extreme faith“ he trusts God’s plan for his life.

Thrown into the pit. He trusts God. Sold off by his family. He trusts God. Taken as a slave into a foreign land. He trusts God. Made a slave to a heathen man. He trusts God. Lied about by Potiphar‘s wife. He trusts God. Cast into prison. He trusts God. Forgotten for 14 years. He trusts God. He knew and believed the LORD was with him. Promoted to Prime minister of the world - He trusted God.

The record of Joseph‘s life, in Genesis chapters 37-50, contains zero complaints and zero compromises. He lived for God with EXTREME FAITH. What an example for 2021 Christian! A great goal!!
