16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I think sometimes we may get careless about the depth and truth of this verse. Every Christian knows the verse. Some may even share it with others. But the deep truth of this verse is worthy of deep thought. In this verse we see the:
Greatest story ever told
Greatest person = God
Greatest passion = so love
Greatest present = his only son
Greatest prospect = whosoever will
Greatest promise = shall never perish
Greatest possession = everlasting life
Greatest plan = believe in him
Greatest privilege = share it with another
Precious gift - Jesus without spot or blemish left majesty above to live as a peasant and die as a criminal - all for unworthy sinners
Perfect gift - A gift that never will fail us - on the mountain top & thru the valley: HE is with us
Powerful gift - Jesus can change any life - He sure changed mine!
Priceless gift - highest value of anything ever given - His Son & His blood
Permanent gift - once you have him you can’t lose him (Oh praise God!)
Motive for the gift: love - sacrificial love
Measure of his gift - gave it all He had - held nothing back
Meaning of his gift - life for you & for me and whosoever will believe and call upon Him
Meditation of his gift - Why in the world would the Almighty want to spend time with me? Eternity?
