21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
Jesus just instructed Peter to feed his flock if he loved Him. That was his mission. Peter then asks about what John’s work Would be. Jesus said what’s that to you? Do your own mission. We all have a mission and Jesus had just fulfilled His by arising from the dead.
Verses 24-25 is our focused today though. John said I wrote this so you could believe my eye witness testimony of Jesus and He did much more than is written in this book. In fact if everything was written that Jesus did the world couldn’t contain them. Think about what an effective ministry Jesus had in His short life!
Bible scholars tell us we only have 40 days of Jesus life captured in the four gospels! Imagine that! Of those 40 days, one was his birth, one was his dedication at the temple, one was the wise men’s visit, one was him teaching at age 12! Now think about all the healing, preaching, teaching, feeding, bleeding and dying in those other 35 days!
Imagine what we could do in the next 365 days (if we have that many) Imagine that!
